Technical Sales Engineer – Classified Environments

Alicat Scientific is a global leader in precision flow and pressure instrumentation. Our classified environment product line includes intrinsically safe (C1D1/Zone 0) and Class 1 Div 2 products that serve industries with hazardous locations such as oil & gas, chemical processing, and industrial manufacturing.

Position summary

This role blends technical sales expertise with exceptional customer service to grow Alicat’s footprint in regulated and hazardous industries. You’ll be responsible for driving revenue, building relationships, supporting our current customers and assisting our international sites with sales in the classified environment industry. You will be the expert in the US for all customer-related questions and support in this industry.

Key responsibilities

Sales & technical consultation

  • Identify, qualify and convert leads in industries requiring classified related products.
  • Deliver technical presentations and product demonstrations tailored to hazardous environments.
  • Develop proposals and quotations based on customer specifications.
  • Collaborate with engineering and product teams to ensure customer needs are met.

Customer relationship management

  • Maintain strong relationships with key accounts, OEMs, and integrators.
  • Provide post-sales support and technical guidance.
  • Gather customer feedback to inform product development and marketing strategy.

Key performance indicators (KPIs)

  • Sales revenue growth: Quarterly and annual targets for IS product line.
  • Lead conversion rate: % of qualified leads converted to customers.
  • Customer retention rate: Repeat business and satisfaction metrics.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Applied Physics, or related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in technical sales and/or instrumentation.
  • Strong understanding of intrinsically safe instrumentation and compliance standards (e.g., ATEX, IECEx, C1D1).
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
