Job Location: Tucson, Arizona
Serve as a member of the Product Development team with primary responsibilities to support new technology development, design, analysis, testing, and troubleshooting of mechanical solutions for new products related to flow and pressure measurement and control. Be involved in all phases of the product development lifecycle, including requirements, research, design, validation, documentation, release, and maintenance. Accountable for supporting performance of all mechanical designs used in Alicat products. Interface with contract manufacturers to make sure mechanical designs are stable, economical, and manufactured correctly. Complete mechanical designs on time and on budget within agreed upon specifications. Conceptualize new flow, pressure management, and control products and generation of accompanying intellectual property. Analyze performance and developing higher accuracy flow models for Alicat devices. Determine when mechanical design refreshes are needed due to cost/performance changes or component life cycles. Assist in developing automated processes for production.
Education: Master’s degree or higher (or foreign equivalent) in mechanical engineering or a related field. Degree must include a concentration in or significant courses completed in fluid dynamics and mathematics.
Experience: In addition to the degree, must have at least two (2) years of experience gained at any time in the following skills:
- Fluid dynamics research;
- Testing and experimenting in fluid dynamics with knowledge of advanced flow diagnostic techniques;
- Working with and developing complex fluid dynamics models and validation quality datasets;
- Experience with Solidworks and MATLAB, ANSYS, or COMSOL; and
- Experience in design engineering for safety and efficiency.
In addition to experience, applicants must be able to demonstrate knowledge of steady and unsteady compressible fluid dynamics with non-equilibrium effects in micro scale flows and fluids-structures interaction simulations.
