VICI makes air pollution analyzer calibrators using OEM mass flow controllers for gas mixing
Valco Instruments Co. Inc. (VICI) makes systems used to verify the accuracy of analytical data from air pollution monitoring, industrial hygiene surveys, odor surveys, and other gas measurement devices. Their Metronics Dynacalibrators® model utilizes Dynacal® permeation devices to generate and deliver very precise amounts of gas mixes using hundreds of different compounds. While the Dynacal itself can generate the gas concentrations necessary for accurate calibration, it needs to be supplied with gas.
Solution: BASIS OEM mass flow controllers
VICI decided to incorporate multiple BASIS OEM mass flow controllers into their Dynacal devices for gas supply. The OEM controllers were able to precisely control the low gas flow rates needed by the Dynacal for production of the precisely measured mixes of trace gas quantities. The BASIS is accurate to very low flow rate (even 1 SCCM) and has 100 ms control response times, performing better than other mass flow controllers in its price range.
It also has a wide operating range, from 0.5% to 100% of full scale, meaning fewer devices are needed to control a wide range of flows. This, in addition to the compact size, allowed VICI to save on both space and cost without sacrificing performance. VICI was able to easily integrate these controllers into their gas flow systems for accurate gas mixing within their calibration systems.
