Alicat Scientific’s CSA approved hazardous environment (-X) option was designed to be used in hazardous environments where it will not be a source of ignition.

Alicat Scientific’s CSA Class 1 Div 2 approved mass flow meters and mass flow controllers are approved for hazardous environment (-X) option was designed to be used by customers in environments were ignitable gases are present. The Class 1 Div 2 approved option can be added to any Alicat product family where deemed by the customer. The Class 1 Div 2 approved device is NOT a stripped down version of Alicat’s popular flow and pressure product. Rather it shares almost all of the standard features our customers have come to expect from the Alicat product. The only omission is the power jack and 8 pin mini din. They are replaced by the locking 6 pin industrial connector. Alicat’s innovative digital display is part of the Class 1 Div 2 approved device.

Fully functional digital display

Alicat’s digital display allows users to monitor the following parameters in real time:

  • flow
  • temperature
  • pressure

The display also allows the user to make functional changes to the unit like changing the measured gas, set point control and taring without the need for digital communication or special software.

Full featured

Often times, Class 1 Div 2 approved devices are stripped of all “unnecessary” functionality to reduce power consumption and creation of heat. The Alicat device, by it’s nature, consumes very little power and as such was able to comply with Class 1 Div 2 requirements with the display intact. This allows users of this device in hazardous environments the flexibilty of having an on-board display for quick visual verification of mass flow meter or mass flow controller operation.
